Our Certifications
Care managers across the country have varied professional backgrounds – most are gerontologists, nurses, or social workers. In order to better regulate the field and unify the experience and knowledge requirements for this profession that crosses many disciplines, The National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers voted to require that the care managers who belong to their organization obtain one of 4 approved certifications: CMC, CCM, C-ASWCM, and C-SWCM.
In order to qualify for any of these advanced certifications, care managers had to demonstrate extensive experience in the profession, vast knowledge of a range of topics dealing with aging and disabled populations, as well as a consistent history of peer review of cases.
Jennifer T. Szakaly and Angie Sullins, both of this firm, each met the above qualifications and were able to successfully complete the national licensing exam in order to hold the certification of
Care Manager, Certified or
CMC.
Additionally, both Szakaly and Sullins have Master of Arts degrees in Gerontology (
MA) from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
